All nine Canadian companies that gave employees a shorter work week in a six-month pilot program are “definitely, planning or leaning towards” continuing the practice, according to non-profit 4 Day Week Global’s study of 41 participating North American companies. (The Logic)
Talking point: As the debate heats up on where and how Canadians should work after the COVID-19 pandemic, some firms are also experimenting with shorter work weeks. Six Canadian companies are publicly named in the non-profit’s trial program: AddPBJ, Fresh Squeezed Ideas, Grand Challenges Canada, L’Abri, Praxis Public Relations and Sensei Labs. Two in five workers reported feeling less stressed and 69 per cent experienced less burnout, according to 4 Day Week Global’s study, which surveyed 630 employees in the U.S. and Canada. Over one in eight employees said no amount of money would entice them back to a five-day week while nearly half of employees said they would require a raise of over 25 per cent.
