Frequently asked questions
Why do you have a paywall?
What we publish is the result of months—and sometimes even years—of exhaustive research. Our work is not subsidized through advertising. It is only paid for by your contribution.
Quality reporting costs money. Stories take time to develop by building relationships and scrutinizing documents and data. Once a story starts to take shape, it needs to be edited for accuracy and focus. If warranted, the story is also vetted by trained legal experts. All of this time and effort requires human capital. Unlike most news organizations, the majority of your subscription dollars will go directly towards supporting our newsroom and helping us grow—with more subscribers we’ll be able to hire more reporters. If you’d like to learn more, please read here.
How do I cancel my subscription?
