The Vancouver-based retailer’s third-quarter revenue jumped 43 per cent year over year to $1.04 billion, beating analyst estimates polled by S&P Global Market Intelligence. New store openings, strong comparable sales growth of 34 per cent, and the launch of Aritzia’s new mobile app helped drive growth. (The Logic)
Talking point: Chief executive Jennifer Wong called the app’s early performance “wildly successful” in an earnings call, crediting it for the retailer’s “standout quarter” alongside continued U.S. expansion. Net revenue from the U.S. jumped 53.8 per cent to $621.1 million, accounting for just under 60 per cent of total revenue. Aritzia increased its store count to 139 locations from 127 a year earlier, with most of that growth coming south of the border. However, chief financial executive Todd Ingledew said margins were squeezed by tariffs and logistics changes tied to the removal of the U.S. de minimis exemption. The company’s shares rose 3.27 per cent by midday.
