Talking point: Lam took the top operational role at Wattpad in May, after co-founder and CEO Allen Lau stepped down. South Korean tech giant Naver closed its acquisition of the Toronto-based firm a year earlier, housing it with online comics platform Webtoon. Last June, Naver combined the two platforms’ studio units under Aaron Levitz, who used to run Wattpad’s. Lam departs after nearly eight years at Wattpad, including a stint spearheading its monetization efforts. New president Nam also previously spent over five years working on Line, Naver’s blockbuster chat app. He’ll be based in Toronto. Lau said at the time of the takeover that Wattpad remains committed to the city.
