The digital sampling and brand-promotion company had $12.9 million in liabilities and $313,359 in assets at the time of its bankruptcy filing on June 27, according to records on which BetaKit first reported. The company first met with creditors on July 22. (BetaKit)
Talking point: Sampler has raised about US$9.85 million since launching in 2013, according to PitchBook, from a suite of well-known investors including BDC Capital, MaRS IAF, StandUp Ventures and C100. Its business took off during the pandemic, with retailers unable to provide samples in person. Sampler operates in 23 countries and has worked with over 1,000 brands, including L’Oréal, Kroger and Unilever, according to its website. It made two acquisitions last year: U.S.-based Abeo and Hamilton-based AdMass. Founder and CEO Marie Chevrier did not immediately respond to The Logic’s request for comment.
