Talking point: Matthew Moroun met Lutnick on Monday in Washington, D.C., according to a report citing unnamed sources. Lutnick then spoke to the president. Trump later warned he would “not allow” the Gordie Howe International Bridge to open, arguing the U.S. should own at least half of it. (Canada covered the $6.4-billion construction costs, but shares ownership with the state of Michigan.) Last October, an Ontario judge ruled that a case involving the Moroun family-owned Canadian Transit Company, which owns the Canadian side of the Ambassador Bridge, and the federal government should go to trial. The firm argues it has exclusive rights to collect tolls.
