Evan Siddall, who also acted as special advisor to Mark Carney during the prime minister’s time as Bank of Canada governor, will be the new housing agency’s inaugural board chair. (The Logic)

Talking point: Siddall will wield all of the board’s powers until at least eight directors are appointed. Build Canada Homes’ mandate is to improve Canada’s supply of affordable housing and promote innovative and efficient home construction methods. The government launched the agency last year, but in June made it a Crown corporation, which requires a board of directors. As president and CEO of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Siddall helped the Liberals develop their housing strategy under former prime minister Justin Trudeau. Most recently, he served less than a year as vice-chair at BMO Capital Markets. The government said in a press release that work is underway to appoint more directors.
