Talking Point: The move highlights how manufacturers are reshaping supply chains amid heightened trade tensions between Washington and Beijing. In December, the Nasdaq-listed firm—which Chinese-Canadian entrepreneur Shawn Qu founded in 2001—said it would form a new joint venture, CS PowerTech, with its existing Chinese unit in a deal valued at about US$50 million to remain compliant with U.S. restrictions. Those measures include tariffs on Chinese solar panels and batteries, along with rules limiting tax incentives for Chinese-linked renewable manufacturing—part of a broader push to draw manufacturing capacity back to the U.S.
