Talking point: Blockchain-based digital collectibles seem like a natural fit for BBTV, whose initial public offering last October was one of the largest in Toronto Stock Exchange history. The company said it has intellectual property rights to a content library that attracts over 600 million unique monthly visitors, and works with some of the world’s biggest creators. BBTV said it plans to leverage that IP “to take tokenized fan experiences to the next level,” launching its first NFT with music producer Zaytoven. That strategy puts it in competition with fellow Vancouver-based startup Dapper Labs, which recently announced a collaboration with L.A.-based Genies to launch a marketplace on Dapper’s Flow blockchain, where celebrities can create and sell digital wearable collections.
