Talking point: The move seals Rogers’s control of the company his father founded. The promotion, from chairman to executive chairman, comes after Rogers settled a family feud earlier this year, which ended with his sisters Melinda Rogers-Hixon and Martha Rogers leaving the board. Rogers has been the telco’s chair since 2018, and before that, he held operations roles, including president and CEO of Rogers Cable from 2003 to 2009. In his new position, Rogers will lead the development and review of the firm’s long-term growth strategy. Robert Gemmell, lead director of the board, said in a press release that the appointment “merely formalizes Edward’s role.”
