Talking point: The purchase comes after the regional government conducted several pilot projects using Miovision’s technology, which collects data to help improve traffic networks at critical intersections. The installation will take two years, with plans to deploy the technology across the region’s entire transportation network. Currently, Miovision’s platform is installed in 200 municipalities in North America. The startup raised $120 million in January in a Series C round led by Telus Ventures. In March, Miovision announced some new partnerships to help distribute its platform in Ontario, the Maritimes and 31 U.S. states.
