The provider of online tools for educators said it has entered into a deal to acquire Aktiv, a New York-based provider of interactive learning solutions for STEM subjects. The companies did not disclose the deal’s financial details. (The Logic)

Talking point: The acquisition will help Top Hat provide specialized tools to educators to engage students, said chief academic officer Brad Cohen in a statement. In February 2021, Top Hat announced a US$130-million fundraising round that was intended to fuel an acquisition spree. At the time of the raise it had already acquired three publishing firms in the previous year, and later acquired Morton Publishing Company and signed a partnership with D2L. The pace of its M&A activity had since slowed.
