Talking point: The partnership includes a revenue-sharing component and could result in new joint products that combine elements of both platforms, Top Hat CEO Joe Rohrlich told The Logic. The announcement comes amid rapid revenue growth for the Toronto-based startup: a spokesperson for the company said revenue in April rose 66 per cent year over year. In February, Top Hat closed a US$130-million Series E round that it will use to fund acquisitions, Rohrlich said. He added the company has no plans to go public for now, despite Rohrlich’s predecessor previously saying it was under consideration. Rohrlich, who joined Top Hat in February, said this fall will be key for the company’s business, as colleges and universities return to in-person instruction. “This is the inflection point of the higher ed market,” Rohrlich said. “I think we’re going to see 20 years of change in three years during that period of time.”
