Andrew Wilkinson, co-founder of the Victoria-based technology-holding company, said in a tweet that the firm closed the deal months ago, but only announced it today. HappyFunCorp, a New York-based product engineering firm, counts Apple, Disney and Amazon among its clients. (TechCrunch, The Logic)
Talking point: The deal marks Tiny’s latest bet on a company that provides design and product support services as more tech firms cut costs and turn to third-party companies to develop new products. Tiny announced earlier this year that it was merging with WeCommerce, one of the companies it launched, which builds, grows and acquires businesses that serve the Shopify partner ecosystem. It now mostly focuses on acquiring majority stakes in companies, including in Dribble, an online community for designers; Stamped, a reviews and loyalty platform for e-commerce firms; and Metalab, an agency that builds products for other firms that was also co-founded by Wilkinson.
