Talking point: The company unveiled the new features at its semi-annual Editions showcase, in which it bundles product launches and update announcements. AI and merchant financing services have both been recent areas of focus for the firm. As my colleague Aleksandra reported, the Ottawa-headquartered commerce company’s Capital service is lending more than ever, with merchants finding its loans and cash advances easier to access than bank-based borrowing. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke has said the firm is particularly well placed to build AI into its business, and it’s already rolled out product-description and email writing tools.
