Thousands of Scotiabank customers reported problems with their deposits Friday, according to outage monitoring tracker Downdetector. The bank has resolved the issue, Scotiabank spokesperson Katie Raskina told The Logic early Friday afternoon. “Clients will start to see their payments posted to their accounts. Any fees incurred as a result of this issue will be reimbursed.” (The Logic)
Talking point: Raskina did not say what caused the issue and how many clients it impacted. It comes a week after CrowdStrike’s faulty Microsoft update triggered a global computer outage across a range of industries, including some banks. Several Canadian banks saw spikes in customer reports of service disruptions during the outage, but the Canadian Bankers Association said the banks themselves didn’t report any major issues.
