Talking point: Among the projects set to receive funding are Capstone Infrastructure’s wind farm near Jenner, Alta.; Pattern Energy Group’s 150-megawatt wind farm in the east of the province; and several of ATCO’s planned investments in infrastructure upgrades aimed at making the grid more efficient. Alberta has been undergoing a renewable energy boom as provincial and federal governments seek to clean the province’s grid, a rapid expansion that has significantly raised its wind and solar capacity but also spurred a backlash from some community groups.
