Talking point: Ashley Llorens, corporate vice-president and managing director at Microsoft Research, said in a release that Sanctuary will use the tech giant’s platform to explore the “future of general-purpose robots” in different use cases and industries. The startup also compared the AI designs used in Sanctuary’s robots to large-language models like ChatGPT, but called them “large behaviour models.” Sanctuary has been branching out with new partners, like auto-parts maker Magna International and retailers such as Mark’s, as it seeks to train its robots to do more human-like tasks.
