Talking point: Lynx is just the latest in a long line of budget airline companies to wink out of existence in Canada. Among the most recent failures was Swoop, WestJet’s budget airline division, which was ultimately folded into the larger company. The shutdown comes amid reports that Lynx was in merger talks with Flair Airlines, an Edmonton-based discount carrier. Lynx passengers have been left in disarray after the sudden announcement, with many left scrambling to find travel alternatives. In its bankruptcy filing Lynx said its last day of operation would be Feb. 25.
