Talking point: With Ottawa looking to attract private capital into major projects, Wallace also said infrastructure is an area where Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan could have particular interest. She said that conversations she has with potential global co-investors are increasingly focused on opportunities in Canada. Still, she cautioned that attracting capital requires governments to provide policy certainty. “I believe that capital will be there, because capital will go to where it is treated well—and then it comes down to an ability to execute,” she said. Wallace also said that while Canada has been successful at fostering early-stage innovation, it has struggled to convert that innovation into broader economic growth.
