In Thursday’s testimony to the committee, Waterfront Toronto’s chief development officer Meg Davis said the investment and real estate committee (IREC) “had reviewed all of the document and had given guidance to the negotiation team.” Julie Di Lorenzo, who was on the agency’s board and chaired the IREC committee, disputed Davis’ testimony, writing in a statement to The Logic: “I can confirm that there were many outstanding and fundamental questions unanswered at the time of the vote on October 16, 2017.” She also clarified that the subject matter of IREC meetings prior to the board vote was not related to “Quayside specifics.” Davis told the committee that there were at least six meetings of the IREC committee ahead of the vote, but a list of IREC meetings on Waterfront Toronto’s website shows that there were just four meetings before the matter was referred to the board. (The Logic)

Talking point: Di Lorenzo has been public in her concerns surrounding the lack of time to consider the deal. As The Logic reported back in July 2018, she was only given four business days to review the initial agreement between Sidewalk Labs and Waterfront Toronto before a vote on October 16, only one day before the planned announcement involving all three levels of government.
