After a meeting with the provincial premiers late Wednesday, Dominic LeBlanc, the minister of both public safety and intergovernmental affairs, said the federal government plans “additional investments to reassure Canadians that all of the measures necessary are in place”to keep borders under control. Talking point: The emergency meeting followed Trump’s threat of 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian goods unless illegal traffic into the U.S. is stopped. Ontario Premier Doug Ford complained that the Liberal government has been slow to act and should co-operate better with provincial police. The province is planning an ad campaign south of the border to reinforce the international relationship.
