Some 78 per cent of the 753 Canadian CEOs that KPMG polled said the technology was their top investment priority, compared to 71 per cent for corporate leaders globally. But just 16 per cent of respondents in Canada said their employees will be able to make full use of AI. (The Logic)
Talking point: Since ChatGPT’s viral launch in November 2022, cries of “What are we doing with AI?” have echoed through boardrooms and corner offices across the world. In Canada, the polling suggests CEOs see the technology as a way to boost the productivity of their workforces, and 73 per cent plan to spend up to a fifth of their budgets on AI over the next year. But they aren’t sure that their firms’ training systems can get staff up to speed with the technology. Some Canadian startups and large companies have already laid workers off, claiming they can use AI to make up for their output.
