Programmers have been some of the most enthusiastic adopters of generative tools within businesses. Startups in the AI-powered code completion space raised US$1.02 billion in 42 deals last year, according to PitchBook data. Shopify is a Graphite customer. The Ottawa-headquartered commerce company has invested in other makers of developer tools, but typically ones that help its merchant clients like Thirdweb and Sanity rather than its own coders.
