Talking point: Roku, which is available in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and the U.K., said it is the first commerce integration for Shopify merchants on TV streaming. Some Shopify merchants, including apparel maker True Classic and wellness firm Olly, have already signed on as initial partners. Other companies, including Walmart and DoorDash, also use Roku’s so-called action ads. Roku’s shares closed up more than 11 per cent on the news, while Shopify stock was up about 1.7 per cent. As ads on the most popular social platforms get more expensive and less efficient, Shopify has tried to provide merchants with ever more channels to sell their wares.
