The Kitchener, Ont.-based edtech company and developer of online-learning platform Brightspace will build local cloud infrastructure, hire workers and set up a new Indian entity, the company announced Wednesday. D2L did not immediately respond to The Logic’s questions on how many new employees it plans to hire there. (The Logic)
Talking point: D2L is expanding as many startups are seeking to cut costs. The firm has over 1,000 higher education, K-12 and corporate clients in over 40 countries. In India, more than 40 organizations already use Brightspace. Its platform is compliant with India’s National Education Policy and University Grants Commission standards. D2L shares closed up about 4.3 per cent on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
