Talking point: Lululemon has been engaged in a public power struggle with the company’s founder, outspoken critic Chip Wilson, and an activist investor over who should take over the CEO reins from Calvin McDonald, who stepped down at the end of January. Lululemon, once at the pinnacle of the athleisure market, has floundered with product quality in recent years amid increasing competition. Lululemon shares fell Wednesday evening after the news was announced and continued their slide Thursday, down about 12 per cent midday. Analysts suggested investors may be concerned by O’Neill’s delayed start date, as well as by Lululemon not selecting either the activist investor’s recommendation or someone who was considered a front-runner.
