Talking point: The companies didn’t disclose terms of the deal, which also includes the transfer of credits under federal Clean Fuel Regulations, but according to Flo CEO Louis Tremblay, it will yield “financial benefits that will allow FLO to expand,” particularly its Canadian network. Like many charging companies, Flo has its own mobile app ecosystem, which means EV owners that have Flo chargers at home will be set up to visit the Esso and Mobil stations. While companies like Couche-Tard are increasingly promoting their own charging brands, other retailers are teaming up with existing brands to literally get “on the map” on new customers’ apps and encourage people to spend more time in their stores.
