Talking point: BRP is leaning into the nostalgia that has the VW Microbus going green, saying that electric motorcycles have “been highly anticipated and expected” by customers and dealers. The first models will be available in mid-2024, more than 50 years after the original Can-Am motorcycle was introduced in 1973. The Valcourt, Que., company said the product lineup will include both on- and off-road models, but didn’t share much more about its plans besides a few flashes in its promo video. If you’re curious, Cycle World looked through its patent filings earlier this week and also noted the company owns intellectual property from Alta Motors bikes, for which it has posted past reviews. Meanwhile, shares closed up more than nine per cent after BRP said its revenue topped $7 billion for the first time last year. It expects a 24 to 29 per cent increase next year, after the company gained market share despite supply-chain disruptions.
