Caroline Mercer will become audience engagement editor at The Logic. Read more in this note to staff from founder and chief executive officer, David Skok.

I’m delighted to announce that Caroline Mercer is rejoining The Logic as our first audience engagement editor. 

While officially a marketing function, Caroline’s role will be instrumental in amplifying and enhancing the work of the newsroom, helping it reach a wider audience, all with the goal of growing subscriptions.

In this newly created role—which will report to Jenna—Caroline will be responsible for creating, tracking and optimizing our marketing campaigns, organic and paid targeted messaging and engaging with our audience and social channels. 

With her strong background in journalism and prior experience at The Logic, Caroline will also be at the ready to fill in on Daily Briefings and reporting when needed.

It’s a fitting return for Caroline, who built our first marketing campaigns as an intern during the summer of our launch. Since then, Caroline wrapped up her master’s at Carleton and spent the summer at the Canadian Medical Association. You’ll recall that she also worked at Gale Partners, a brand and marketing agency, prior to starting her master’s degree.

I’ll take this opportunity to point out that both Caroline and Hanna Lee, our very first intern cohort, have now both joined us full time. It’s a testament to the culture you are building of The Logic being a place where people want to come into work every day. Thank you. 

Caroline’s first day will be this Monday, September 9.
