The Logic has hired two new assistant editors, Aaliyah Dasoo and Sebastian Leck. Read more in this note to staff from deputy managing editor April Fong and managing editor Jordan Timm.
We’re excited to announce that Aaliyah Dasoo and Sebastian Leck are joining The Logic as assistant editors.
Aaliyah is currently an editorial fellow at The Walrus, where she is responsible for fact-checking its print and online content. She is a recent graduate of the Ryerson School of Journalism and a recipient of the Media Girlfriends Scholarship and the John A. Honderich Gold Medal in Journalism. Her writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, Canadian Business and Bitch.
Many of you have already worked closely with Sebastian as he assisted The Logic on a freelance basis, helping to ensure that stories were accurate and of the highest journalistic standards. Sebastian is currently managing editor of Research Money, and he has written for CBC News, the National Post, Toronto Life, Canada’s National Observer and TVO.org. He is also a former editorial fellow at The Walrus and previously worked as a digital content editor at The Globe and Mail.
We also want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Hanna Lee, who has worked tirelessly as assistant editor while our editorial output increased. With Sebastian joining The Logic on April 11 and Aaliyah on May 9, we will be able to immediately increase our fact-checking and copy-editing capacity thanks to their extensive experience and keen news judgment.
