Daniele Sestagalli said he would “reimburse/unwind” anyone who no longer wants to be a part of the beleaguered DeFi protocol following the revelation that his fellow co-founder is convicted money-launderer Michael Patryn, best known for his role in the early days of the infamous Canadian crypto-trading platform Quadriga. (The Logic)
Talking point: The decision shows how long a shadow the Quadriga scandal still casts across the maturing crypto sector. Sestagalli made the announcement despite the results of a community vote held over the weekend, in which a resolution to wind down the project had only 45 per cent support (with an even smaller percentage of individual community members in support of winding down, as people with more tokens had more votes). This vote follows another in which the Wonderland community chose to oust Patryn as manager of the project’s treasury. In a post Friday, the Wonderland team said unwinding was its preferred outcome and would involve distributing the project’s treasury to token holders.
