Talking point: The studio was one of Wattpad’s first moves after its acquisition by tech giant Naver. The South Korean company committed US$100 million to production and development when the studio was first announced. Wattpad has been actively working with streaming services including Netflix and Hulu on turning its written content into movies and TV series. “This is not the first one, and for sure, it won’t be the last one—and definitely not the exclusive one,” said Allen Lau in an interview with The Logic, adding that the company’s diverse IP library has led to partnerships in five continents.
