Talking point: Montreal-headquartered Valsoft is a technology roll-up, buying firms that make software for sectors like dental practices, construction and government. It’s acquired over 100 companies to date. Joining firms get centralized marketing resources, and the money to grow. In January, Valsoft landed US$170 million in debt from Viking and Coatue Management to make more deals; this week’s deal expands its coffers for acquisitions. It has a similar model to Constellation Software, the $95-billion roll-up listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
