Twelve Canadian firms named to the 2019 Global Cleantech 100

Half of the Canadian winners come from British Columbia; four are from Ontario and two from Dartmouth, N.S. Winners include Toronto-based Ecobee, maker of  a smart thermostat, and Dartmouth-based CarbonCure, which claims its recycled concrete mix has saved 21,844 tonnes in CO2 emissions so far. (BetaKit)

Talking point: This year’s list marks a slight decrease from last year’s record of 13 Canadian companies. However, cleantech investment remains strong, with $365 million invested in Canadian sustainable tech companies across 29 deals in the first half of 2018—twice the amount invested in the same period the year before.
