Talking point: The decision follows a lawsuit from Uber filed earlier this month, in which the company accused the city of passing the driver cap in “bad faith” by failing to give proper notice of new rules. Uber claimed its “customer base, goodwill and revenue” would suffer under the limit, causing the company to be “irreparably harmed.” Uber spokesperson Keerthana Rang said in a statement that there’s no longer need for “an urgent injunction.” But Thursday’s motion shows Chow still plans to explore options to limit licences, a move originally intended to curb traffic and emissions downtown. “Make no mistake,” said Rang, “this is only a short-term fix.”
