Talking point: Tenstorrent is set to begin shipping its Grayskull processor later this year, and launch a modelling tool for developers. The company is focusing on chips and software for AI applications, a significant recent source of revenue growth and new startups in the semiconductor business. In January, Tenstorrent hired former Intel and AMD executive Jim Keller, an angel investor in the firm, as CTO. He’s previously cited Toronto’s AI and hardware talent as an advantage for the company. Tenstorrent is the second semiconductor firm founded in the city to surpass the billion-dollar valuation mark of late, after Alphawave went public on the London Stock Exchange last week.
