Talking point: This is the latest in a number of fires involving Tesla’s cars—at least 14 since 2013, the majority occurring following a crash. It comes at a time when the company is facing a number of problems, including struggling with deliveries of its luxury models as well as Musk’s legal battles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange commission. The fire adds further trouble for the company as it prepares to report its first quarter earnings on Wednesday.
