Talking point: Telus has acquired seven firms total to bolster this division, and is in the process of purchasing an eighth. So far, it has a team of 1,200 in 10 countries. The agriculture focus is part of a broader push by Telus to bring in revenue outside of its core telecom services. Earlier this month, Telus International announced it was acquiring Lionbridge AI for $1.2 billion to boost its content-moderation business. Telus has had success in broadening its revenue base before. The firm’s health division, which it has spent $3.2 billion on over the past decade, now brings in about $800 million in annual revenue.
