Border0 is the first acquisition for the Toronto-based cybersecurity firm. Its technology helps businesses monitor and manage who and what is allowed into servers and databases. Tailscale, which securely connects companies’ devices, did not disclose the terms of the deal. (Bloomberg)
Talking point: Border0’s service, called privileged access management, is increasingly important for Tailscale, as AI agents permeate the digital systems it oversees. Those bots aren’t necessarily bad, Tailscale CEO Avery Pennarun told Bloomberg, adding that Border0’s technology ensures the autonomous agents only have access to data they should and nothing else. Pennarun, who previously said the company was considering an eventual IPO, said the AI boom has propelled the business, adding that the company could raise another funding round in the “not-so-distant future.”
