Boulanger replaces Timothy Leyne, who served as interim CEO after founder Katherine Homuth agreed to step down from the position in March as a condition of a US$40-million funding round the company raised to stave off bankruptcy. (The Logic)
Talking point: In a release, SRTX investors BDC Capital, Export Development Canada, H&M Group and Investissement Québec said Boulanger “is very well positioned to lead SRTX into its next chapter,” given her experience growing direct-to-consumer glasses company BonLook to become a national brand. SRTX, which makes the Sheertex brand of rip-resistant tights out of materials used in bulletproof vests, gained acclaim and attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in investment but struggled to turn a profit. The company laid off 40 per cent of its 350-person workforce in February, a move Homuth attributed to impending tariffs from the U.S. and delayed capital raises. In May, Homuth announced she had founded a new corporate data archiving startup called Oomira.
