Talking point: Along with Greenwald, Montreal-based streamer David Freiheit recently signed a deal to produce four live shows per week on the platform. In 2021, Ohio-based Narya Capital, co-founded by Hillbilly Elegy author J.D. Vance, led an investment in Rumble, with participation from tech billionaire Peter Thiel. Rumble took in US$9.5 million in revenue in 2021, twice that of 2020, the majority of which came from advertising. Meanwhile, Toronto-based Corus Entertainment said it expects “meaningful year-over-year softness in television advertising revenue” as a result of “the complex macroeconomic environment and ongoing pandemic-related impacts.”
