Talking point: Black-market cannabis dealers have long sold through online and delivery marketplaces, such as CannMart and Get Kush. The black market remains popular with consumers—38 per cent of cannabis users in the country are still turning to illegal sources, according to Statistics Canada’s National Cannabis Survey. While only two provinces currently allow same-day cannabis delivery by private companies, some players are still jumping into the market. In June, Super Anytime and Pineapple Express Delivery partnered to offer same-day delivery of products from licensed retailers across Canada in areas that permit it. Meanwhile, in Ontario—where the province’s Ontario Cannabis Store makes online sales and Canada Post does deliveries—consumers faced several weeks of delays in receiving products bought following legalization day in October 2018.
