Decarbonization Partners, a joint venture between the U.S. asset management giant and the Singapore wealth fund, led the round, while U.K.-based Climate Investment and Pennsylvania’s Activate Capital also participated. Xnrgy, which manufactures air and liquid cooling systems for computer servers, did not disclose the value of the deal. (The Logic)
Talking point: This investment will help Xnrgy, which now has operations in both Montreal and Arizona, take advantage of the AI data centre construction boom. In September, it announced plans to build a new 330,000-square-foot facility in Mesa, Ariz., where it will house AI servers that use its cooling technology—the company’s fourth such expansion in three years. AI chips run hotter than previous silicon iterations given their comparably high output, and companies are constantly seeking new methods to keep them cool, including building in naturally colder climates like Alberta.
Correction: This story has been updated to correct the location of Xnrgy’s operations.
