Talking point: The House of Commons is due to break for the summer by the end of next week and getting C-11 passed is a priority for the Liberals (with support from the NDP)—but the bill still has to go to the Senate before becoming law. That’s where an earlier version of the same bill went and died a year ago, after resistant senators voted to send it to consideration by a committee of their own, which never met before the 2021 election wiped the legislative slate. Big streaming companies like Alphabet’s YouTube are not fans.
