Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System said Thursday it is shuffling its investment leadership, following Ralph Berg’s departure to Singapore’s Temasek last month, with CEO Blake Hutcheson taking direct oversight of the pension fund’s senior investment executives. (The Logic)
Talking point: The $145 billion pension manager appointed Michael Hill to oversee both infrastructure and private equity globally, while Scott McIntosh will add oversight of global equities to his existing multi-asset responsibilities. Instead of naming a new CIO, five senior investment leaders will now report directly to Hutcheson, a move the CEO said will simplify decision-making and reporting lines. The changes come as OMERS continues to reshape its private equity business following a 2.5 per cent decline in private equity and a $665-million net investment loss on its $25.6 billion portfolio last year, leading it to miss its internal benchmark by 1.5 percentage points.
