The Ottawa-based firm, which develops artificial intelligence-based auditing tools, has completed its acquisition of U.K.-based Brevis Limited, an accounting-technology firm. MindBridge CEO Eli Fathi said the two companies are “aligned in [their] vision to transform the industry using artificial intelligence.” The firm said that the acquisition will help it grow its client base in the U.K. and Europe. Talking point: Launched in 2017, Brevis uses machine learning to generate financial statements, a natural extension to MindBridge’s risk-detection offering. In June 2019, the firm told The Logic that it was expanding its technology to financial-services organizations in banking and insurance, and was looking at sectors like energy. The acquisition comes after a strong year for MindBridge. Last fall, the Bank of Canada tapped the firm for a digital-payment fraud-detection project, and MindBridge also received $14.5 million from Ottawa’s Strategic Innovation Fund.
