AI ad recommendations improved “monetization efficiency,” or the amount of ad revenue earned per time spent on the platform, by 30 per cent on Instagram and 40 per cent on Facebook from last quarter, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post Wednesday after the company posted its first-quarter results. The company will also explore AI applications in WhatsApp, Messenger and videos, among other areas. (The Logic)
Talking point: In addition to AI, Zuckerberg emphasized that Meta is still committed to the metaverse as a long-term project and intends to integrate AI into it over time. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella both emphasized the importance of AI in their products earlier this week as they announced their respective quarterly results.
