Talking point: Meta had stepped up its threats to block news availability in Canada as Bill C-18 closed in on final votes, including by testing news blocking earlier this month. Google has carried out similar trials, and Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez’s office was meeting with the tech giant’s executives as the Senate moved toward its final vote. The Logic’s CEO David Skok has previously testified in support of the bill, while other publishers have opposed it.
