Loblaw has been widely blamed for profiting off rising food inflation over the past few years, and was subject to a month-long boycott organized on Reddit. Loblaw’s chair Galen Weston said at The Logic Summit that food prices soared 25 times faster than grocer profits over the past few years. “If you believe the industry is responsible for it, it can cause a great deal of angst and strain,” Weston said. “The fact that we’re not responsible directly for this doesn’t matter. So we have to engage.”
